Amritsar, 8 December: Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal’s attacker, Narain Singh Chora, was presented in court today after the end of his remand. The court again remanded Chora to three days of police custody.

At Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, Narain Singh Chora had suddenly fired shots at Sukhbir Singh Badal, who was performing seva (service). The police officers present at the scene immediately tried to control Chora, but he fired shots. Due to the police’s alertness, the bullet instead hit the bell tower gate of Sri Harmandir Sahib, which helped prevent harm to Badal.

After arresting Chora, the police had initially presented him in court, and the court had earlier granted a three-day police remand. After the completion of this remand period, Chora was again presented in court today. The police requested further remand, stating that more interrogation is pending and they need to investigate the background forces behind this incident.

After the police requested more information about this major conspiracy, the court granted Chora an additional three days of remand. While the police had requested a seven-day remand, the court has only granted three days. After these three days of remand are completed, Narain Singh Chora will be presented in court again.
