Haemophilia Summit Held At GGSMC, Faridkot

Faridkot : Haemophilia is one of the most common severe haemorrhagic disorders with a hereditary origin. Haemophilia happens due to factor VIII and factor IX protein deficiency. Patients suffering from this disease present with spontaneous or persistent bleeding with or without trauma, depending on the level of factor activity. The patient or affected child should receive treatment and rehabilitation at a comprehensive treatment centre where interdisciplinary services are offered and family participation is also vital.
Regarding this severe disease, Department of Paediatrics and Department Immunohematology and blood transfusion of GGSMC, Faridkot is organizing an international conference on Haemophilia at GGS MEDICAL COLLEGE FARIDKOT in collaboration with Haemophilia Federation (INDIA), Punjab State AIDS control Society (PSACS), Punjab Medical Council (PMC), National Health Mission (NHM), Haemophilia Advocacy Society Punjab, Word Federation of Haemophilia from 2nd Sept to 4th Sept 2022. International faculty and more than 300 delegates are attending this state of art conference at holy land of Baba Farid.
Inauguration of this state of art Haemophilia summit was attended by dignitaries Registrar Dr Nirmal Ouseppachan IAS apprised on recent advancements in Hemophilia treatment and expressed happiness that this year GGSMCH got privilege to organize this conference and pre-conference workshop in which doctors from different regions can learn recent advances about the treatment of disease. The principal goal of care is to avoid and treat bleeding. Dr SP Singh Controller and professor in the department eye stated that this academic summit will enhance our knowledge about newer advances in the management and prevention of hemophilia. Dr Rajiv Sharma Principal GGS MEDICAL COLLEGE stated that doctors of GGSMCH are very dedicated and they are doing their best to deal with all the problems due to haemophilia and its complications. Dr Sheliekh Mittal MS stated that we are regularly upgrading our hospital infrastructure to provide best care to the patients. Dr Ravi Bansal Member PMC, stated that everyday there is new invention in the field of medicine, so doctors and medical practitioners need to upgrade their knowledge by the means of CME, etc. Dr Shashikant Professor and Head Pediatrics department, Dr Neetu Kukkar Professor and Head IHBT, Dr Gurmeet Kaur Professor, Dr Bobby Gulati State nodal officer State blood cell, Dr Sandeep Verma President Hemophilia advocacy society, Dr Varun Kaul Organizing Secretary Hemophilia Summit were also present during the event.
