Chandigarh : Drive for depositing licensed arms has been intensified after model code of conduct coming into force. Total 1,83,660 weapons have been deposited till 08.01.17. Intensive drive for depositing weapons is continuing.
According to a press release by Punjab Police from chandigarh the composite teams of 451 Flying Squads and 504 Static Surveillance Teams have become functional throughout the State providing round the clock coverage. These teams have contributed immensely in building confidence and in providing deterrence.
According to press release Flying Squads recover 1,72,850 cash, 115 Ltrs Illicit Liquor and 340 ltr licit liquor and registered 3 FIRs. Static Surveillance Teams recovered Rs. 5,23,740 cash, 760 Ltrs Illicit liquor, 41 Ltrs licit liquor and lodged 17 FIRs. Recovered by Police Rs 3,48000 cash and 123 kg poppy husk and registered 91 FIRs in the state.
