LUDHIANA: In his another move aimed to corner ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP coalition, Punjab Pradesh congress committee (PPCC) chief Captain Amarinder Singhhas raked up the issue of unemployment in the state after his campaign called “Har Ghar to ikk Captain” (HGC) which aims at providing employment to the unemployed, received 15.75 lakh registrations in its first 10 days. Surprisingly if the figures are to be believed, industrial city Ludhiana figures among the top three cities from where maximum registrations have been done. Speaking to media, a member of IPAC (Indian political action committee), the company which is running Captain’s campaign said, “We have received 15.75 lakh registrations under HGC in just 10 days which indicates unemployment is a huge election issue in Punjab. Also till such employment is provided, the youth will be given an unemployment allowance of Rs 2500 per month, for a period of upto 36 months. In return the youth together with their family must pledge to stay drug free. According to the figures provided by IPAC, maximum number of registrations under HGC have been done by youth from Ludhiana, Sangrur and Patiala. 1,70,598 registrations have been done from Sangrur, while 1,70,100 youth have registered from Patiala followed by Ludhiana from where 1,60,552 registrations have been done.(toi)
